For the next few blogs this month, we're going to examine three of the most popular countertop surfaces: Quartz, Granite, and Marble.

We'll go into the pros and cons of each so that you are more aware of the differences and you can always contact us with any additional questions.

First we'll look at Quartz:

Quartz ranges in price depending on your style preferences. It can be the most affordable of the three stones but there is also quartz that can be the most expensive. While it is not 100% natural, as it is crushed and mixed with resin and pigment, it is still a favorite amongst those looking for a stone-looking top.

Quartz requires almost zero upkeep with a nonporous version. Because it is nonporous, it doesn't need to be sealed like granite and marble.

While the look won't have the individual natural tones and specks as you would in granite or marble, it will be a more uniform look throughout. Because it is manufactured, quartz can be made in almost any color and pattern with small specks to natural rock, granite, and marble looks. Quartz is by far the most easily customized based on your desire of pattern and color as so many options are available based on its being manufactured.

If you are someone who likes to hit your glass jars on the countertop to loosen something in it, be aware that the hard nonporous quality of quartz can cause that glass to break. Quartz is as heat resistant as granite, don't let them tell you otherwise.
