The restoration of the porch on the historic church/home is completed!

Below, see photos of the final porch and read about our processes. We are so happy with the results to give this family and this historic church/home a proper and usable porch to be enjoyed for many, many more years to come.
In this project we wanted to use material that will last another 100 years, remember that this house was a church build in 1880. We decided to use pressure treated ground contact #1 for all the framing. It has to dry for 2 months before it is painted but is worth the wait.
The white color coordinated with the house, and the brown color of the foundation makes it look like part of the original building.
We installed AZEC wood grain composite, Morado color, for the decking with visible screws.
The idea of using metal roof was to continue with the same roof material existing in the house that was installed for the homeowners when they moved in. Metal roofs such as aluminum or steel shingles can last for 50 years and often longer . Metal is a non-combustible material, and so a metal roof will never catch on fire like cedar and some asphalt roofs and is one of the best metals to use for roofs located in the coastal areas, where there is a heavy presence of salt spray in the environment.
At the end we were able to give our clients what they were expecting: a new porch that looks like it has been there since 1880, but with the engineering of the 21st century.
We are very pleased with the result, now they can enjoy the view of the lake and entertain family and friends, for generations to come.
